Abstract: Fibroid is the commonest benign tumour of the uterus. They are benign smooth muscle neoplasms that typically originate from the myometrium. Their incidence among women is generally cited as 20 to 25 percent, but has been shown to be as high as 70 to 80 percent in studies using histologic or sonographic examination. The majority of fibroids remain asymptomatic (75%). They are accidentally discovered by the physician during routine examination or at laparotomy or laparoscopy. These are more common in nulliparous or in those having one child infertility. The prevalence is highest between 35–45 years. clinical presentation include Menstrual abnormality, Dyspareunia, Infertility, Pressure symptoms, Recurrent pregnancy loss (miscarriage, preterm labour), Lower abdominal or pelvic pain. In the unani literature the tumour have been mentioned with the name of salaat which is type of warm e balghami (phlegmatic swelling). No definite treatment is available except hysterectomy. Therefore, patients are turning toward complementary and alternative medicine.
