Abstract:
Prophetic Medicine also known as TIBBE-NABWI. It is a traditional approach taken from the teachings of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W). It has provided a solution for almost all the ailments various natural remedies have been mentioned in Tibbe Nabwi such as asl-e- khalis (honey), kalonji (black seeds), khajoor (Dates), anjeer (fig), Zaitoon (olive), anaar (pomegranate), Henna (mehendi). In this paper the benefits of mehendi and its chemical constituents will be discussed. In hadith it is called heena, in latin it’s called Lawsonia inermis, in english it is called henna. It belongs to the Lythraceae family. It is mentioned in sihah-e-sitta[Bukhari, Abu Dawud, Muslim, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, Nasai] & it was used by Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) to apply to hair, wounds or prick from thorn, for headache and it has also antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties. In conventional medicine, the treatment for female genital infections is antibacterial, antifungal, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory drugs. Henna is used to dye the skin, nails, and hair of women and men in many cultures and religions across its area of natural distribution and beyond.
