Abstract:
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of Ayurvedic treatment modalities in the management of chronic kidney disease (CKD), particularly in a 48-year-old male patient diagnosed with Stage IV CKD.
Methods: A 48-year-old male with Stage IV CKD, presenting symptoms such as heaviness and pain in the lower abdomen, breathlessness during exertion, generalized weakness, body ache, and frothy urine, was treated with various Ayurvedic treatments including various Ayurvedic medications, Panchakarma therapy and dietary recommendations. Treatment included oral administration of ChandarVati (2 tablets BD-Adhobhakta - vyan UdanKal), GFR Powder (half tsp BD - Adhobhakta - Vyanudankal), Amlapittahar with Hingwastikchuranyog (1 tsp BD- Adhobhakta Vyanudankalkal), and SanjeevaniVati (2 capsules BDAdhobhakta Vyan Udankal). Additional therapies included AvgahSweda, Lepa with Trikatu and Dashmool followed by NadiSweda, Gokshura and Punarnava Siddha SnehaBasti, and Shirodhara with BramhiTaila.
Results: Significant improvements were observed in biochemical parameters and clinical symptoms over a six-month period, suggesting the potential efficacy of Ayurvedic treatments in CKD management.
Conclusion: Ayurvedic interventions may offer a promising complementary, or even an alternative approach to conventional CKD treatment, warranting further research.
